What is a Cravat/Ascot Tie?

Posted by Carol Emerton on

A Cravat/Ascot Tie is like a necktie, only it is pre-tied and a little shorter than a normal Necktie, but will save the messing around trying to get that knot exactly right on that special day.

Sometimes they are also known as a Fatboy Tie because they are quite wide, but short.  The size will vary, depending on the Vest size required, but for an average mens size it will be about 11cm in width and 35cm in length.

This type of tie is often worn at weddings and looks really beautiful with a Vest, which is why we offer this as an option with our Custom-made Vest Sets and you will see the Cravat in most of our images.

There are variations of the Cravat/Ascot, with some having a flatter knot with either a single or double tie (see below).  We also have gold or silver diamante pins to put in the knot (as per the blue Cravat below), which adds that little bit of bling to our Vest Set.

Cravats/Ascot are fairly new to Australia, but extremely popular in Europe, so why not try something a little different and wear a Cravat/Ascot at your next function.
